Pretty Fabulous Things (part 7)

As you probably know, I do like textiles, and after my failed attempts last year at felt making ( I've pulled things from the bath plug that had more artistic merit) I have huge respect for all felters out there! But none make me stop and stare in wonder quite as much as Edinburgh's The Felt Elf
Inspired by nature, folk tradition and shamanic art amongst other things. This really is art to wear!!!!

Serenity

When I'm planning a garland I like to imagine a room for it to hang in. With this piece I envisaged a beautiful airy breakfast room, painted white, with some early spring bulbs on a white windowsill, everything calm, beautiful, and serene :)

Shabby Chic Mirror Garland

Another in the 'autrefois' series - this one is a little more romantic, with aged pink millinery flowers and a pair of little birds encrusted in pink german glass glitter and given a little 'aging'.

For the bead detailing I've used beautiful pink Swarovski crystals in old rose pink with filigree bead caps.

Once again, I've used some of my old French skeleton keys, this time adornied with Swarovski hearts in lilac and some shiny silver flower shaped sequins

The ribbons are pink organza and a gorgeous wide satin ribbon in a pearly bluey grey.

Rambling Icicles

When I'm at my glass cutting desk I look out on to this barn door belonging to my neighbour. In the Summer the walls and roof of the barn are covered in wild, rambling white roses and honeysuckle. Today I was amazed to see that it covered in a cascade of icicles !! magical!!

Grey Fairytale Dress

I love this dress! I just had to put it up here. It's a Vogue fashion shoot featuring Kristen Dunst as Marie Antoinette which was published just before the movie came out. I'm back to being obsessed with grey and whites again so this dress is just a total fairytale of gorgeousness and so totally inspiring :)

W is for Woodpecker and Woodstacks

The woodpecker was in the garden having lunch today. He's such a treat to see close up!
So I filed the photo and then saw 'woodstack' next in the file - and thoughtI'd blog about it.

Now I don't expect too many people to get all excited at piles of wood but I have a small obsession with woodpiles :) I find then incredibly beautiful things, especially the neat, freestanding kind that undulate across a field, but a small, perfectly stacked little pile sheltering under the eaves of an alpine house is good too :)

This cat obviously enjoys them too - this was taken in the neighbouring hamlet Montrouvard

This photo is a fav because it also includes my other great love, the old barns or 'granges' of the mountains. In the winter I can see the roof of this very pretty 'shabby chic' barn from my house as it's on the road to the hamlet just below. I love the pattern of the wood with the waves of the corrigated iron on top. (I've spent hours drawing this particular barn I like it that much!)

Anyway, this woodstack, is a little more shabby and looks like wood shingles but I think it's rather splendid.

I found it one day last winter when we were driving in the Chartreuse and it was love at first sight :) We drove on passed at the time but over lunch I persuaded Aaron to drive back so I could stop and take some photos. I could look at this for hours, it gives me goosebumps, call me weird :)
